  • Abbott - Serena 30sec.

A 30sec. Ad for Lingo a glucose tracker. We shot this all in a studio in Midtown Manhattan in under 90 minutes. Prep day was pivotal on this one.

    Abbott - Serena 30sec.
  • Xbox - Cloud Gaming

We built 3 unique sets on a stage in Seattle in order to introduce Cloud gaming on Xbox to the world.

  • Ubisoft XDefiant Extended Cut

This was shot over a few days all over LA. Had a great time playing with the neon lighting and moody vibes.

    Ubisoft XDefiant Extended Cut
  • Mixtape Marauders

Shot over 4 days in Stanwood, WA. This one was a labor of love with a great crew and great cast, fun times. Vimeo staff pick and went to a dozen festivals.

    Mixtape Marauders
  • Microsoft X Special Olympics

Shot in multiple stages over 6 months. Upstate New York, Alabama and Turino, Italy. This one filled up our hearts and was a blast to shoot.

  • Abbott - Lingo User Stories - Jess

This one was in Austin, TX. It was crazy hot and there were like a million bugs, but well worth it. We had a great time getting that truck unstuck from the mud for the firepit scene.

  • NINJA GAIDEN 4 - Dragon Sword & Takeminakata Reveal

Shot in a small village outside Kyoto. It was a real treat getting to see one of the only traditional sword-smiths in Japan do his thing. It must have been 130 degrees in that room.

  • Signal - ANTHEM

4 days in Atlanta shooting this. Lots of fun locations, cast and crew.

    Signal - ANTHEM
  • Superstar

Had some Anamorphics left over from a shoot so naturally had to make something over the weekend. This one came together real fast and real loose. No plan for the edit but ended up liking this Sonic Youth song and thought it would match the vibe.

  • Surface - Avery Island

One of the many ads I’ve shot for Surface over the years. This one was in Pioneer Square, Seattle. The dog was the real star here.

    Surface - Avery Island
  • Erik Blood - Chase the Clouds

A couple days in the woods with some friends and we made this. A camera crew of two and a lot of ambition.

Erik Blood - Chase the Clouds
  • Qualtrics - Jo Malone

1 part of a bigger series for Qualtrics. Highlighting Jo Malone in London. I had a lot of fun with this and there's a comfort in knowing beforehand that the end product will be black and white. Jo was a sweetheart, sent me home with perfumes for all the women in my life.

  • THE REF

My friend Peter wrote this from personal experiences. Years later, my kids are competing in recreational sports and I completely understand everything in this fun little film.

  • Surface - Campus

Shot this one in Belltown, Seattle. It’s always fun shooting a good looking product with good looking people in a nice place.

    Surface - Campus
  • Surface - Fashion

Another one we did in Pioneer Square, Seattle. I love shooting at night and the challenges that it brings. There were cars parked outside the big windows so we made a last minute decision to frost them, I think it turned out nice.

    Surface - Fashion
  • The Club

Had a big empty room that was about to be filled up. Had a nice camera that needed some low-light testing. So we came up with an idea and shot this in a night. 2-man crew.

    The Club
  • Surface - Dinner

Shot this in a flat in Georgetown, Seattle. It was on the second story, so bringing in light was a challenge, but I like the way it turned out.

    Surface - Dinner
  • Surface - Color

This was a fun and challenging change of pace. We used a motion controlled head for most of these shots. Keeping the dust of the black reflective surfaces was probably the hardest part, as well as avoiding reflections.

    Surface - Color
  • GolfNow - 30sec

One of many spots I did for the Golf Now app. This one was on a course in Minnesota. We had a pretty sweet golf cart caravan going on for this one.

  • Phantom Cocktails

We shot a short film years ago that takes place in a night club and wanted to make a cool title sequence, so we found a guy that worked at a science laboratory and had access to a phantom camera. This isn’t that title sequence, its just a mish-mash edit I through together for fun. It went viral and was on a ton of websites but ultimately got taken down because I used a Beastie Boys song. Whatever.

    Phantom Cocktails
  • SMCU - The Coach

One of a few spots we did for a local bank here in Seattle. The Rainier Beach High School basketball team was fun to work with, those kids were crazy talented on the court.

    SMCU - The Coach
  • Rad Power Bikes - Brianna

Shot this one in Tacoma, WA. I won’t go into detail, but I’m not sure I’d use one of these bikes for my everyday commute. Let’s just say the product was a bit of a drama queen. Talent was great though.

    Rad Power Bikes - Brianna
  • Seattle Kraken Ad

A spot we shot for the Kraken, literally all over Seattle. This was back when they made it to the playoffs, something we’re not used to seeing here in the PNW, so it was pretty exciting to say the least.

  • Starbucks - Empire State Building

We shot this at Starbucks HQ with a Phantom camera. These images were made to go on a huge video wall that’s in the Empire State Building’s Starbucks.

  • Microsoft X BMW

Shot this in Munich, Germany. It was fun, but we probably had more fun when we weren’t working!

    Microsoft X BMW
  • Irreverent - TacoBell

This is one part of a huge series we did for Qualtrics talking about brands and what makes them unique. We did all of these over the course of a couple weeks down in LA. The shots in the old LA Times office were really fun, the space was completely empty so we had to bring in a ton of stuff.

    Irreverent - TacoBell
  • Microsoft - Student Stories - KATHMANDU

Did this one in Nepal. I have to say, Kathmandu is a lively place and the people are very friendly, the food is good, just stay away from the monkeys.

Microsoft - Student Stories - KATHMANDU
  • Microsoft - Student Stories - DURBAN

Durben, South Africa. This was part of a fun series that we did all through Africa. Just me and a Producer getting it done. Oh also I had like two bodyguards that were total goofballs.

Microsoft - Student Stories - DURBAN
  • COLOR - Stunt Drivers Wanted

This was a HUGE shoot for a video game that got cancelled and NEVER CAME OUT. So it was repurposed into an ad to attract talent. I’m just glad it got edited.

    COLOR - Stunt Drivers Wanted
  • Microsoft - Rijksmuseum Accessibility Campaign

There’s something amazing about getting to be in a giant museum while it’s closed. Having the run of this place was an awesome experience and I like the story too.

    Microsoft - Rijksmuseum Accessibility Campaign
  • Optum - Provider

We built some fun conceptual sets for this one. I had a fun time lighting it and overall like how it turned out.

    Optum - Provider
  • Gates Foundation - Episode 3

Part of a series we did for the Gates Foundation. This one was in California. Fun fact, after we wrapped we all went to Disneyland, best day ever.

    Gates Foundation - Episode 3
  • Sovereign - Carole McClellan

A spec piece we shot out in Vantage, WA. You really can’t beat those desert vibes.

    Sovereign - Carole McClellan
  • Freeman & Forrest - Gemini Music Video

This is the longest music video ever. All green screened with AI backdrops. It was a fun day though, and I got to bring home like a dozen wigs for my kids to play with.

Freeman & Forrest - Gemini Music Video
  • Amazon - Last Mile

Shot this in Brownsville, Oregon during some of the nastiest weather conditions I’ve ever worked in. I haven’t seen that much rain since, and I live in Seattle.

    Amazon - Last Mile
  • Microsoft - Cable Landing Teaser

We spent a week waiting for this boat to show up on the coast of Oregon. Just five dudes in a rental house on the beach, it was real rough. This was mainly a broll type shoot so there was no formal piece made, I strung this together for giggles.

    Microsoft - Cable Landing Teaser

I hate talking about myself.

DP's are an interesting breed, we try and make ourselves look as cool as possible, because you clearly have to be cool and mysterious to make fantastic images.  I’ll admit I still try to be like that, my wife and daughters constantly remind me that I’m not there yet.

The pictures below feature me in a beer cooler, stuck in the mud, and questioning my Director’s choices. The reason I’ve chosen these as my defining pictures in an “about” section that 10 people will read is simple, when I’m your Director of Photography this is what you’ll get.  I’m a goof, I’m energetic, I'm easy to work with and I truly believe that I’m the funniest person in the fucking world (no proof). I'll do my best with what I'm given, whether I’m a one-man band or I’m running a full crew, I have tons of experience with both.  I strive to shoot what makes sense to the story and to the edit, all while creating the prettiest picture possible. I’ve worked with all the cameras and lenses out there and in another life I’d be a Director. If you’re looking for a super technical guy that geeks out over dynamic range and flange distances, then probably keep looking, but if you need a DP that’s down to hang out the side of a minivan with a gimbal rig or ruin his new boots for a shot, then holy shit look no further.

I'm currently the Director of Photography at COLOR, that’s where I do my Corporate and Commercial work.  If you’re looking for someone to shoot your next Short, Feature or Music Video, or need an excuse to grab a beer on a Tuesday, then please feel free to contact me.
